OSR Subcontracting Team

This team is dedicated to the management and negotiation of outgoing subawards and incoming subcontracts that have been issued under grants.  To find the Contract and Grant Officer/Associate assigned to your department, check the OSR Contact List. The Subcontracting Team will bring new efficiencies to the handling of these agreements, streamlining those activities that lend themselves to uniform processing so adequate time and attention can be given to those that are more complex or involve special terms and conditions.  It is our expectation that the specialization of the team will reduce turnaround time, minimize our audit risk, and improve data collection.  It will also help position us for managing these activities with even greater efficiency in the SeRA system. 

Another important benefit of a specialized Subcontracting Team is that our school-based pre-award teams will be able to focus more exclusively on grant deadlines and contract administration.  The school-based teams will continue to handle clinical trial agreements and non-industry research contracts.  They will also handle incoming subcontracts that have been issued under the prime contracts of other organizations.

There may be instances where it will make sense for a subaward to be issued by the Contract and Grant Officer who has negotiated the prime award, particularly if the prime award is a complex agreement or there is a special history carrying through from the proposal or award stage.  These will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Subcontracting Team:

• Outgoing subawards under Stanford grants and contracts
• Incoming subcontracts under the prime grants of other organizations

School-based Teams:

• Clinical trial agreements
• Non-industry research contracts
• Incoming subcontracts issued under the prime contracts of other organizations
• Outgoing subawards (special circumstances)

The administrative process for initiating subawards or processing incoming subcontracts does not change for departments and schools.  As OSR receives subcontract agreements and requisitions for subawards, our intake group will automatically route them to the appropriate team for processing.
