Property Acquisitions

There are a variety of methods by which equipment is acquired at Stanford, the most common being purchasing. However, there are many other methods of acquisition, such as donations, transfers, leases, sponsor furnished property, etc. The method of acquisition used is determined by factors such as source of funding, type of project, and duration of need.

Chapter Two of the property manual outlines all methods of acquisition used at Stanford. Check the detailed "Methods of Acquisition" table on page four for details on each, including a description, when to use and how to process.
