The Property Administration Manual is the official Stanford University policy document for the control of personal property (associated with durable and moveable property as opposed to "real property" [real estate]) at the University. The official version is online.

This document is organized in the order recommended and taught by the National Property Management Association, a non-profit, professional association dedicated to cost-effective management of personal property in the public and private sectors.

The Property Management Office has overall responsibility for the content and production of this document. Information is reviewed and updated by a committee of senior managers from the schools and departments on campus, as well as the Stanford Internal Audit Department. The policies related to property management are reviewed and approved by the Office of Naval Research.

The official Property Manual is located online and is available to anyone who can access the World Wide Web. We notify the Department Property Administrators (DPAs) on our distribution list, as well as senior managers and administrative deans associated with property management on campus via email, when updates are made. Each section is marked with a revision date, so anyone reviewing the information is able to tell when it was last updated.
