Financial Reporting

Financial reports are the responsibility of the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR). In close collaboration with the PI and the department research administrators, the Office of Sponsored Research is responsible for submission of any financial reports due to funding agencies.  Some agencies require these reports on an interim (often annual) basis; others require them only following the end of a project.  Absent special arrangements, the University tries not to accept due dates for final financial reports that are shorter than 90 days after the end date of an award.  This period of time is necessary for the PI, department and OSR to close subawards, review project expenditures and ensure  full compliance with the terms of the award, including making any necessary corrections.  Departments are cautioned against submitting "unofficial"reports to an agency as it can lead to misunderstandings about the correct reportable expenditures under an award.
