ARRA Reporting Requirements
The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding is beginning to arrive! Awards received under ARRA have an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability, and the federal government is requiring quarterly reporting on a number of data elements. ORA is in the process of developing an electronic system to facilitate the capture of the required data, as well as to coordinate submission to the federal government. Most of the required data will be pulled from existing University systems. However, there are a few elements that will need to be provided and/or reviewed by the Principal Investigators and the Dept Administrators:
-
Project Description (one time)
-
Project Status (quarterly)
-
Jobs Created/Retained (quarterly)
-
Expenses to date (quarterly)
Stanford's electronic system will not be ready in time to meet the first federal government deadline of October 10. Most PIs and Dept Administrators have already been contacted by email for information related to their award. ORA was not able to provide much time for PIs and Dept Administrators to respond with information for this first report. This was due to the federal government's delay in finalizing the reporting format and the complexity of capturing the data from our central systems. ORA anticipates their new electronic system will be completed in time to meet future federal reporting deadlines (10 days after the end of each quarter).
Please note: individual PIs should not register on the Recovery.gov website. The Office of Research Administration (ORA) has completed the registration on behalf of Stanford University. Individual registration is not required.
*Do you have subawards? Please keep in mind that these additional reporting requirements include the same level of detailed information for subawards. It could be very challenging to obtain the information needed from outside organizations in order to meet the ten day reporting deadlines.

We created a distribution list to notify all the PI's who have received ARRA funding, as well as administrators and DFAs who support those ARRA projects, about the quarterly reporting requirements and other ARRA updates/rules as they become available.
If you have additional administrative or technical support staff who should also receive these communications, please have them add themselves to the list.
