Background
NIH Applicants/ Award recipients are required to use the SciENcv online platform for preparing and certifying NIH Biosketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support) forms for all NIH applications, JITs, and RPPRs submitted on or after January 25, 2026*.
* NIH will enforce the use of the Common Forms via eRA system validations immediately as a warning when the wrong form is used. However, to allow for a small period of leniency given the size of Training and Center grant applications, NIH will withdraw any application that does not comply with the use of the Common Forms beginning with the February 5, 2026 standard application due date. Moreover, by February 6, 2026, the eRA system warning will be elevated into an error preventing submission of the incorrect or uncertified forms. Failure to utilize the correct forms will cause NIH to withdraw your application from consideration.
- The NIH also requires all Senior/Key Personnel to link their ORCID ID to their SciENcv account.
- Individuals can refer to the ORA NIH Disclosure Resources for more information.
- Note: Supporting documentation that is currently provided/appended as a PDF following the Other Support form, will not be required to be uploaded into SciENcv or attached to the Common Form for Current and Pending (Other) Support document produced in SciENcv. Rather, with the NIH implementation of the Common Forms, any requisite supporting documentation will be attached in a separate field alongside the Current and Pending (Other) Support document when submitting via the Just-In-Time, RPPR, or Prior Approval modules.
Current Faculty/Investigator Action Items
- Access your SciENcv account and delegate access to your [research] administrator(s) to allow them ample time to familiarize themselves with SciENcv and to facilitate with the data entry for your NIH Biosketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support forms. For clarity, delegation of access should not be to your Grants RPM or OSR Contracts & Grants Officer.
- Delegates can create, modify, and/or delete the information in the SciENcv account(s) to which they have been granted access. Step-by-step instructions for delegating SciENcv access are available on the ORA SciENcv Resources page.
Current Administrator Action Items
- Access your SciENcv account and familiarize yourself with the SciENcv user interface - anyone with an active SUNet ID can access SciENcv!
- Navigate to the SciENcv login page.
- Click More Options >> other login options >> more login options. Type Stanford and select "Stanford University" to sign as a Partner Organization. You will be signed in using your Stanford SSO credentials.
- Work with your investigators to obtain delegate access to their SciENcv accounts.
- Step-by-step instructions for delegating SciENcv access are available on the ORA SciENcv Resources page.
- Once you have delegate access to your investigator accounts you can begin creating NIH Common Forms for your investigators!
