Cayuse Proposals - Copying and Transforming Proposals
Cayuse allows users to quickly copy an entire proposal and edit the copy as needed.
If you are preparing a resubmission proposal that will use the same application package as the original submission, we recommend that you make a copy of the originally submitted proposal, and then edit the copy as needed for the resubmission. This keeps the original proposal record intact and unaltered.
You can also transform a proposal to a different funding opportunity or form set, which copies data from the original proposal where corresponding forms exist in the new opportunity package or form set. Several of the most common use cases for transforming proposals are:
-
You have initiated an application under one funding opportunity or form set, but realize you actually want to apply under a different funding opportunity or form set.
-
You need to submit a resubmission or renewal application, and the original submission was prepared under a funding opportunity or form set that is no longer active.
-
The sponsor released a new form set or application package for the funding opportunity to which you are applying

- From the Cayuse Proposals Tab click the green icon at the right side of the proposal you want to copy to launch the Copy/Transform dialog
- In the initial Copy/Transform dialog, click Copy Proposal.
- Edit the Proposal Name for the new proposal as desired. By default the Copy Attachments? box will be checked. Uncheck this box only if you do NOT want to copy the attachments in the original proposal over to your new proposal. Enter the new proposal's due date, and click Copy Proposal.
- You will now see the newly copied proposal on your Proposals List in Cayuse. Proceed with editing the copied proposal as needed.
Transforming a Cayuse Proposal
If you want to transfer existing data in an application to a different opportunity, or even a new version of the same opportunity, transform the proposal. Once a proposal is created against an opportunity, if the opportunity is updated, the proposal does not automatically reflect the update (since forms may have changed) and must be transformed.
When you transform a proposal, information will only be copied between forms that are the same in each opportunity. If you are replacing an expired opportunity with a new one, the forms will generally be the same, but if it is a different opportunity, some forms may be different and that information will not transfer.
- From the Cayuse Proposals Tab click the green icon at the right side of the proposal you want to copy to launch the Copy/Transform dialog
- In the initial Copy/Transform dialog, click Transform Proposal.
- Search and select the new opportunity from the list by clicking on the green plus icon to the left of the opportunity. This process is similar to selecting an opportunity when initiating new applications.
- Edit the Proposal Name for the new proposal as desired. By default the Copy Attachments? box will be checked. Uncheck this box only if you do NOT want to copy the attachments in the original proposal over to your new proposal. Enter the new proposal's due date. If the Validation Type is not preselected, select the appropriate Validation Type. In most cases if the Validation Type is not preselected the appropriate Validation Type to select is Other Federal Agency. Click Transform Proposal.
- You will now see the newly transformed proposal on your Proposals List in Cayuse. Proceed with editing the transformed proposal as needed.
